Active birth classes
I referred clients to Jan for her active birth workshop. Jan has a beautiful calming personality who put all parents at ease. She instilled a confidence in their abilities and demonstrated coping strategies for their planned home births. Prenatal yoga
Jan's prenatal yoga class was the highlight of my week during my second pregnancy. So much so I ended up attending 3 classes a week!
Although I was scheduled for an elective section very early on in my pregnancy, to me prenatal yoga was not just about the birth. I used the breathing techniques and relaxation methods during my operation and hospital stay and managed to stay calm and focused throughout. I have such lovely memories of my pregnancy and my birth (even though a section can have such negative connotations) and can honestly say Jan was instrumental in this. Thank you Jan. Erika
I went to Jan's ante natal yoga course for 5 months while I was pregnant and thought it was absolutely excellent. I had done some yoga before and was worried that ante-natal yoga might not be enough exercise for me to keep reasonably fit and active in the latter stages of pregnancy. I was totally wrong however, Jan was able to tailor her class to suit the needs of each individual in it, and allowed everyone to go at their own pace which meant everyone felt a sense of achievement after the class. She offered so much more than yoga though too, ideas for helping achieve a natural birth, personal encouragement through difficult patches, and a voice of experience to those of us who were new mothers to be. My daughter Sophie was born naturally using many of the techniques Jan had shown us and I really feel that the great start we got together had a lot to do with Jan and her classes. I'd heartily recommend Jan's ante natal classes to anyone. Lucy
I found Jan's prenatal yoga classes invaluable - not only are you prepared physically but mentally too. It was a weekly treat and I came out of every class feeling relaxed and calm. For the birth I was able to use all I had learned and managed to use only yoga breathing and focus as we had been taught. Doula work
I was so lucky to have Jan for my VBAC. Her presence during my labour was very gentle, kind and lovingly supportive. When she arrived, we did yoga together and it helped my baby to descend and my labour to progress quicker, I was so amazed. I could trust her in everything. She was actively supporting me emotionally and physically, every step of my journey. After the transfer to hospital, she helped me to re-focus and gather myself. I think the hospital staff were totally amazed by the connection and trust we had formed and fully respected Jan as doula. I highly recommend her doula services. Jan really held the space for us to have the birth that we had hoped for. Jan offered support and encouragement when it was required, and space to do my own thing when I needed it. She was sensitive and intuitive throughout. I can’t imagine her not being there; I can honestly say that she only enhanced the birth experience for me.
I did not have the birth I had wanted with my first child, and felt very vulnerable in the months that followed. After my second birth I felt empowered and confident.
